SCHOOL MURALS
The designs that we chose to do were a flamenco dancer, a matador and his bull, and the Barcelona dragon statue. We decided to put the dragon above the door to add some excitement to the entrance. We began with the flamenco dancer on the side of the door but after we got it all sketched out we realized that we needed something else under the door stop. We then decided to put the matador and his bull under the dancer. The sunset from the flamenco dancer ends where the stadium for the fighter starts that way there was no white spots between the two designs. For the colors on the dancer we created a gradient from red to light pink. We decided that this would add more of a dramatic effect to the dress rather than just doing the while dress in red. It also allowed us to distinguish the difference between the layers of ruffles on her dress. For the sunset we began with light yellow and gradually turned it into orange. Then, with some help from our teacher, we turned the orange into dark blue creating a blueish/green color in between the orange and blue. For our matador we used a royal blue for his outfit and black for his jacket. We then used a silver tinted paint to add the piping to his outfit. For the background we used a red, yellow, orange, and brown mixture to created the back wall of the arena. The ground we used a tan almost skin color paint which we will then add black speckles to to create a sand look. For the top of the arena we will eventually add a stadium full of people. Above the door where the dragon is, we extended the background between the doors behind the lizard. Since the actual statue is a mosaic statue, we added mosaic pieces which we are painting individually in the same pattern that the original is painted. The reason we did these designs was due to the fact that we were painting the Spanish room doorway. We consulted with the teacher and she wanted either a bull fighter or a flamenco dancer. Since we had room we did both and we added the dragon statue which she loved.
